TURNABOUT
A tribute to sustainable building and the natural environment.
Nestled along Shoal Creek in Austin, Texas, the Turnabout project celebrates sustainable building and the homeowners’ deep connection to the natural landscape. The home earned a 5-star rating from the Austin Energy Green Building program and is fully net-zero. Although the homeowners hoped to preserve the original structure, it proved unsalvageable due to structural issues—so the new design draws inspiration from the home that came before it. Updated to welcome more natural light, the residence features a wraparound second-story deck that extends living space into the surrounding canopy. With an avid gardener’s touch, a 100+ year-old live oak, and views of Shoal Creek, this property is one of Austin’s truly special residential spaces.
